Small Potatoes

1.  Thanks to Jessica over at How Sweet It Is, I have discovered Biscoff spread.  It's like baby cookies - without the chewing.  Marvelous.  Thanks, Jessica.  I love you.  And hate you.  I'm sure you understand.

2.  Speaking of my new lover Biscoff, I opened the jar the other day to discover that a full third of it was missing.  I'd only eaten a spoonful.  I think the Sous Chef and I need to have a little chat.  Either that or the cats are finally putting their extra toes to good use.

3.  So last Friday, I made the Foodbuzz Top 9 for the first time EVER.  And then my Internet promptly went out, so I didn't get to brag about it for very long.  God teaching me humility.

4.  The Internet didn't come back until today, and then an hour later the power went out.  So now I'm sitting at Barnes and Noble, trying not to eye up the red velvet cheesecake in the refrigerated display case.

5.  If you remember from a couple Small Potatoes ago, I have discovered that coffee is that thing that had been missing my whole life.  Well, this week I discovered that other thing that's been missing all my life - flavored coffee creamer.

6.  I recently read The Rook by Daniel O'Malley.  It was like X-Men meets X-Files meets Memento.  Holy moly.  You want to know how much I liked it?  It's nearly 500 pages long, and I finished it in three days.  Normally it takes me at least three weeks to finish a book that long.

7.  Don't laugh at me.  I may type fast, but I read slow.

8.  Unless you want to hire me to be a proofreader or editor, in which case I can read super-duper fast.

9.  Another plus of being a currently unemployed writer?  I get to spend time doing things like trying out new pillow arrangements on the bed.  I think I know what Dolce's preference is.  I put the pillows like this and she didn't move from this spot for four days.  Which made getting in and out of bed a wee bit challenging.

10.  I've managed to avoid the red velvet cheesecake.  I am a winner.

11.  Now please excuse me while I go to the checkout line to buy approximately $100 worth of books about writing for a living.

12.  Anyone know if I can write that off on my taxes as a business expense?

13.  How about the red velvet cheesecake?

  1. We haven't had internet since we moved, and won't have it again for at least another week... which I'm telling you because I hadn't heard about this Biscoff spread?! Is it like Trader Joe's cookie butter? I'm intrigued. But most importantly - congrats on the Top 9! Super awesome!

    1. I've never had the Trader Joe's spread. All I know is that when the Sous Chef tasted it, he said, "That's just not fair." It's REALLY good.
