Gratituesdays: Shutdown

{As of midnight today, the Sous Chef and 800,000 other government workers were placed on unpaid leave, because everyone on Capitol Hill is engaged in a gigantic p***ing contest.  However, there is always something to be grateful for.  Always a silver lining...}

1.  All those little projects that Sous Chef hasn't had the time or energy to get to? Well... I celebrate your return from the back burner, little projects, only to turn the tables and tell you this: You are going down.

2.  Much of the time, Sous Chef and I are on opposite schedules.  He gets up at 5 am, so he's ready for bed when I'm just getting started with my evening.  The other day I hadn't seen him in so long that I forgot what he looked like, and then this strange man came into my house and I screamed and threw baked goods at him, then he yelled, "It's me!!  The Sous Chef!!"  Maybe now that he has a few days off, I'll get to spend more time with him and less time baking Defensive Donuts.

3.  Sous Chef can now have breakfast ready for me when I wake up and dinner ready when I get home.  I don't actually expect these things to happen, but just the thought that they are now possible is enough to make me a Happy Girl.

4.  I have a job.  It's a simple statement, therefore easily taken for granted.  But with 800,000 people suddenly unable to say that very statement (at least temporarily), it reminds me just how lucky I am.

WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR THIS WEEK?
