BackStory: Progression via Regression

Anyone would think we'd gone crazy and procreated, the way these joyous exclamations of self-reliance are flying around our house:

"I put on my shoes all by myself!"

"I brushed my teeth and didn't get any toothpaste on the sink!"

"I put my dishes in the dishwasher!"

And of course,

"I DID IT!!!"

All this and more. Since the beginning of the month, I've had the motor skills of a very sore, stiff toddler. I think the Sous Chef deserves some sort of Nobel Patience Prize. Because until the last few days, he's been doing ev-er-y-thing around the house.

It's an odd feeling to be unceremoniously thrust back into toddlerhood. Especially when it doesn't come with the usual perks of nap time and getting away with murder because who could stay mad at an oh-so-cute face like that?

As my mobility slowly creeps back, the tiniest bit of progress feels like a major milestone. Kind of puts things into perspective.

I now this euphoria won't last; I'm nowhere near Zen enough to ensure that it does. But it's nice to experience it for now. I guess that's good enough.

Live well.
