PiYo Day 26: Rest (and an Almond Joy Shake)

This week has been a roller coaster.

So many mixed emotions; determination, frustration, pride, envy, impatience, restlessness, self-doubt, triumph.

I can't tell which feelings are winning and which ones are losing.

I'm getting kind of sick of myself. Enough with all this contemplation and overthinking and wondering. Just do the damn workout and take care of your body.

If only it were that easy.

I keep thinking about what a character on Derek (amazing Ricky Gervais Netflix series, BTW) said. Dougie, a glass-is-half-empty sort of bloke, commented on how much time we spend thinking about the "meaning of it all". He says:

"You don't get animals going about, do you, insects, worrying about why they're here? They're here. They get on with the job. You get a mayfly, it's only here half a day. You know that? They're not going around, they don't waste that half hour going, "Oh, why are we here?" They do their little job and then they die."

Yes, it sounds rather morbid, talking about just doing your job and then dying, but at the same time, it's quite freeing. It's a commentary on how much time we waste just thinking about life instead of living it.

So this coming week, that's my focus: to live my life and stop thinking so damn much about it.

Because the meaning of it comes naturally with the living of it.

Just do the damn workout and take care of your body.

Let's celebrate this breakthrough with a shake! This week, we're having something that tastes like an Almond Joy turned into ice cream and then promptly melted into your glass.

Seriously. So yum.

Almond Joy Shake

1 cup lite coconut milk
1 Tbsp almond butter
1 scoop chocolate vegan Shakeology
A few drops almond extract
1-2 wheatgrass ice cubes
Water (as needed)

Put all of the ingredients into your NutriBullet/blender. Top off with water as necessary. Blend. Add more water to achieve desired consistency.

Enjoy your melted Almond Joy ice cream!

And for Pete's sake, join me in not thinking so hard about life!
