One of the perks of being off schedule with the PiYo program is that I get a rest day in the (sort of) middle of the week!
Because my PiYo Pause threw me off course for a little over a week, I'm doing Friday's "workout" today. Resting. I thought about skipping the rest day since I just got started up again, but thought better of it when I took a sneak peek at the workout calendar for the next two days - I'm going to need it.
Besides, I just got started again; I need to be careful not to push it too far too soon. I don't want to end up splayed out on the floor again, unable to walk! That was no fun at all, and it was only seven months ago. But wow, it was seven months ago!
Onward and upward!
Today's Rest day Celebration Shake is a slight variation on one I've made before. There's nothing quite like the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, is there? Well, at least until you add a banana to it. Adding a banana to a smoothie is akin to adding moisturizer to your skin at night - it smooths everything out. Suddenly, what started out as a healthy choice becomes a thick, decadent treat.
I love bananas. And so do monkeys, apparently. Why did that become a "thing" - monkeys and bananas? Peanuts, too - apparently monkeys love peanuts. So much so that I've heard that in Britain they call peanuts "monkey nuts". I don't get it. Did the first people to discover monkeys happen to have a large store of peanuts and bananas with them and nothing else with which to lure the monkeys? Oh well. A Chocolate Monkey shake it is.
*****
Chocolate Monkey Shake
1 scoop vegan chocolate Shakeology
1 - 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbsp natural peanut butter
½ banana
1-2 wheatgrass ice cubes
Blend everything together and go monkey-attack the day. You deserve it.
Shake well.
