1. This chair. With my lumbar disc throwing tantrums lately, it's really nice to have a place to sit (even if it is just for short spurts of time).
2. An incentive to walk more. I'm like a shark - if I stop moving, I die. Well, I don't die, but my back does get really sore and stiff, and that's no fun. Dr. Fat Ass taught me last year that stopping is the worst thing I can do when my disc flares up. As a result, I've been averaging 10K+ steps a day this week - not too shabby!
3. A gym with month-to-month membership. No annual contracts! Take that, winter weather that makes me need a place to walk inside! I can use the gym membership during the colder, darker months, then just pause it when the weather gets nicer.
4. Chopped on Netflix. The one thing that's always annoyed me about this show is how they cut to a commercial right as they're about to reveal which contestant gets"chopped". Netflix streaming solves that problem.
5. Chopped in the kitchen. We've taken inspiration from the show and have started playing "Chopped" at home. We grab four random ingredients from our pantry and have to make a meal using all four ingredients. For example, last night our ingredients were: cornmeal, Chex cereal, maple syrup, and Dijon mustard. We ended up making cornmeal and Chex-crusted chicken breasts over a salad with a maple-Dijon vinaigrette. Pretty snazzy, huh? And a great way to use up the miscellany around the kitchen.
