The Daily Meal Rundown

Here are some of my favorite stories I found while browsing The Daily Meal today:

1.  Have an extra quarter-million bucks and six months of leave built up?  Then maybe this foodie vacay is for you: visit every 3-Michelin-starred restaurant in the world.  I'd go, but I am not nearly as rich as the food is bound to be…

2.  Considering I spent most of the day yesterday smushed into a polyester bridesmaid dress (and Spanx, of course) on a swelteringly muggy July day, naturally I am dreaming about winter.  This recipe for butternut squash soup makes me crave the cooler weather even more!

3.  Along the same seasonal lines is this recipe for deep-fried turkey.  It immediately brings me back to Sous Chef's family tradition of deep-frying their bird.  I so want to try it this way - teeming with hot sauce, both inside and out!

4.  I've never met a grilled cheese I didn't like.  I still remember the moment in 9th grade when both my mind and taste buds were blown when I had something in addition to cheese - in this case it was tomato - in between the two perfectly toasted and buttery slices of bread.  Amazingness.  Here's an article on 12 jazzed-up grilled cheese recipes that are similarly jaw-dropping and drool-inducing.

5.  How much fun is it combining fruit with savory recipes?  I've only begun to explore the possibilities, so when I find recipes like this one for Italian sausage with balsamic-roasted grapes, it really inspires me.  I could picture serving this at a special wine-themed dinner - showcasing another versatile way to use grapes…

6.  Have you heard of milk-and-cookie disease?  I hadn't either until I saw this article.  It makes sense, though, because I've noticed that any time I combine dairy and sugar, I feel like complete crap.  Now I know why!
