Fall Recipes

Source
I spent most of the summer sweating all night long as I tried to sleep.  Not because we didn't have air conditioning - it was happily blasting away throughout the sultry weather (and I've got the electric bills to prove it).  No, I sweated out the summer because I always wear socks to bed - and not just any socks, my super-padded, double-lined, soft and comfy socks.  My feet always have to be covered, or they get what I call "chalky cold".  I can't explain it, so I just go with it.  On the off chance that I forget to wear socks to bed, that will inevitably be the same night that the Sous Chef accidentally grazes my sensitive soles with his snaggle-toenails.  Oh, I shudder at the thought.

So I sweat and sweat and sweat.  Through June, July, August, and part of September.  But suddenly, there comes a night when I am perfectly comfortable - maybe even a bit chilly.  My feet happily slumber in their cushioned haven and I pull the quilt closer around my shoulders.  I might even badger the Sous Chef to spoon me to keep me warm.  The cats, who spent the hot summer avoiding bodily contact with us as much as possible, are spontaneously atop my body, curled up and sleeping soundly.  Both of them, like furry little hot water bottles.

Suddenly, it's Fall.
