Gratituesdays

Paisley pants?!  At work?!  WHAT?!
1.  My new morning routine.  Having an extra half hour is officially Amazing.  I've got time to write, drink coffee, even play a little Zynga Bingo on Facebook.  I have determined that a gradual, easy wake-up is ideal for me.  Figuring out what works for you: gratitude-inducing.

2.  My new work wardrobe.  Bring on the pencil skirts!  Patterned pants!  V-neck blouses!  Now that I don't have to worry about little children looking up my skirt or down my blouse (or a boss that calls me fat on my first day), I am able to embrace my womanly curves and indulge my inner Mad Men secretary.

3.  Cool Fall nights.  The kitties have started snuggling again - and the Sous Chef snuggles even closer.

4.  The Best of Clean Eating 2 cookbook.  I used it when I did my meal planning for this week.  On the menu in the next few days - Sweet & Hot Shrimp Tacos with Cherry Ginger Glaze and Buffalo Chicken with Buttermilk-Feta Sauce and Spicy Kale.

5.  SNL on Netflix.  The Sous Chef started watching it from the beginning (1975!) the other day; it's great to see how they started out.  Simple sets, more improv-y, long musical acts, and Muppets?!  A simpler time, an satisfying laugh.  John Belushi was a comic genius.

6.  Working with health-conscious people.  My new co-workers are health nuts - though now that I think of it, "nuts" is too strong of a word.  They're just into being healthy.  That's going to make it a lot easier for me to stay on track and avoid the unnecessary treats that magically appear in the kitchen, even though no one in the office wants to eat them!

7.  Pizza toppings on salad.  The Sous Chef and I love going to Pub Dog in Columbia to watch football games (since we are Eagles fans living in Redskins/Ravens territory, we almost never get the games on our TV at home).  I don't want to eat a pizza every week - after talking to the bartender there, I discovered I can get some of my favorite pizza toppings on a salad - eliminating lots of unnecessary white flour!  Hooray!

What are you grateful for this week?

  1. Having a leisurely morning (as opposed to RUNNING out the door in a blur) makes such a difference, even if it's really, really hard to achieve. So worth it when you can.

I'm appreciating the cool nights too now that my cat has rediscovered snuggling. I pretend she's grateful for me and not just looking for a warm body. : )
